Are You Being “Bad” Or Is Sugar Just Your Weakness? | Jenn Edden Coaching

My daughter and I talking today about how to get along with people and the right things to say to them so we don’t say things that could be taken offensively!

Not everyone has the natural abilities of social etiquette and for sure my middle kid is one of them!

Caitlin started out by saying she’s “bad” at saying things that can be taken hurtfully. Then she used her hands to show how “bad” she was. It was about 1 foot worth of “bad” compared to her brother, Luke, who was literally born with social etiquette and the art of persuasion and knows exactly what to say to sway people his way 😀

It was during this conversation that it hit me like a ton of bricks that we as women use this same language of “bad” versus “good” when we talk about our WEAKNESSES.

That’s right!

I told Caitlin it’s just not her strong suit to know the right things to say. It doesn’t mean she’s bad…it’s just not her strength.

I saw a light bulb go off in her head which made me want to share this with all the brilliant, successful, savvy women in my community.

What if you started to look at the sugar and wine you’re consuming not as “bad” but as your weakness and until you STRENGTHEN yourself by gaining tools and a plan to control these socially acceptable yet highly addictive substances?!?!

Now we’re talking.

And not only are we talking but we’re talking about the Sugar Freedom Method!

Isn’t it time to take our power back and stop letting everyone else’s problems become ours to the point that we are so disgusted we stop taking care of ourselves?

Yeah! And at the same time I can hear you asking me.

“That’s great, Jenn, but what can I do about it? It’s been this way for what feels like forever. “

I totally get it that real change doesn’t happen over night but I also know that change doesn’t happen if you don’t do anything about it!

You with me?

Here’s how I see it when I feel stuck… I always tell myself I’ve got 2 choices.

  1. The first choice is to start figuring out ways to not give all your energy away so that by 5pm you’re so done you don’t care what goes in your mouth.
  2. The second choice is to go get help from someone who can show you the short cuts so you’re not constantly taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

Don’t hear me wrong and think you can’t figure this out on our own…of course you can. You can do anything.
