Last week I was hanging out on a group call with my coach when someone brought up that they can’t believe people who are in the health space eat sugar, drink wine and do other “unhealthy” things.

The comment struck me as kind of judgmental and honestly flat out wrong, so naturally I couldn’t let it go. I immediately shot a response back in the “chat” section of our zoom call.
“People aren’t unhealthy…they’re ADDICTED. It’s not their fault. They’re missing the tools they need to do better”.

I said it so quickly and naturally that the impact of those words didn’t hit me for 2 days at which point I decided it was an important enough topic to continue the conversation with you.

There are far too many women I know who are smart, sassy, creative, kind and business savvy yet when it comes to their diet they just haven’t been able to nail it down in any meaningful way no matter what cleanse they go on, latest craze they try (celery juice anyone?), or diet they go on.

As I tell women when they call me to consider working together, please do not misunderstand my passion for pressure! I am here to serve women who need me by shining a light on what’s not working.

And in this case I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that the food we eat, the thoughts we think and the actions we take (or don’t take) on a daily basis are truly the root of all problems and disease and that’s clearly what’s not working…NOT your gym routine or latest diet that went sour.

Truth be told:

No one is unhealthy!

No one is a bad eater!

No one diet is better than another!

No one has a lack of willpower!

No one is perfect!

All that matters is how you feel when you wake up and take on your day.  How’s your energy mid morning and again mid afternoon? How are those cravings at night? Any anxiety this week?

Only you know the answers to these questions and only you can decide if you’re ready to do something about it!

By that I mean, yummy treats that use whole foods and have zero processed sugars or flours in them.

I made this smoothie over the weekend for the kids and had a little myself (servings 4). They all loved it so much- score! I couldn’t help but share it with you too!

*Edden Non Drama Smoothie:

  • 1.5 frozen bananas
  • 3-4 pitted dates
  • 1-2 TBL hemp seeds
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 8 oz water (use more or less water depending on how thick you like it)
  • 1 drop of vanilla extract
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon
  • Handful of ice

Put all ingredients in a Vitamix or high powered blender, get out your favorite spoon and cup and enjoy every bite.
* while fruit and dates are still sugar, I consider them less drama because they come from natural sugar and are not processed. It’s up to you to decide if even natural sugar triggers you. I find for many it simply hits the spot.
